The Book of Esther is a fascinating book, but is one that is often mistaught due to a so-called "pious bias." In Sunday schools we teach that Esther and Mordecai are models of godly obedience when the reality is not so clear; even biblical scholars do not agree on this¹. This project is intended to help you navigate the choices they made in order to evaluate whether they were the right thing to do.

Intended Audience

The Book of Esther has some mature themes that naturally are included in this project. These themes include: sexual immorality (Esther's participation in the king's harem), alcohol usage (the king's fondness of wine), and even murder and genocide.

If you are a parent or Sunday School teacher, it is important to navigate through this project before choosing whether to give it to the children that you are responsible for.

I would recommend 12 years older and above, but it may depend on the child.
